CHILD SAFETY

A Child-Safe Montessori Early Learning Centre in Noble Park North

At Montessori Steps, the safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. We are a child-safe Montessori childcare and kindergarten in Noble Park North, committed to providing an environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported at all times.

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and uphold the highest standards of protection, care, and accountability across every aspect of our service.

Child safety is embedded into our daily routines, educator practices, relationships, and decision-making processes, ensuring a consistently safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Our Child Safety Commitment

Everyday Safety at Our Centre

Your child’s safety, wellbeing and happiness are at the heart of everything we do. Our experienced educators provide a warm, secure environment where children feel confident to explore, learn and grow.

We carry out routine safety checks throughout the day, carefully monitoring our indoor and outdoor environments, equipment and play spaces to help ensure they remain safe and ready for children. Alongside attentive supervision and thoughtful daily routines, we take a proactive approach to creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Sun Safety

We follow Cancer Council guidelines to protect children from harmful UV exposure. Children must wear a broad-brimmed, bucket, or legionnaire-style hat, sun-protective clothing covering shoulders and upper arms, and SPF 50+ sunscreen applied before arrival and reapplied during the day as needed.

Families are asked to apply sunscreen before arrival and provide a labelled personal sunscreen if required for sensitivities. In line with our No Hat, No Outdoor Play policy, children without a sun-safe hat will remain in shaded areas. Caps and visors are not permitted.

Accidents and Medical Care

Our educators hold current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis training and participate in ongoing child safety training. If a child is injured or becomes unwell, families are contacted immediately. All head injuries are reported, regardless of severity.

An Incident, Injury, Trauma, or Illness Report is completed and discussed with families. We ask that emergency contact details are kept up to date so we can respond quickly when needed.

Ongoing Child Safety Training

All educators complete regular refresher training in child safety, child protection, and mandatory reporting to ensure they remain up to date with current legislation, best practices, and their responsibilities for safeguarding children.

Through continuous professional learning, our team is equipped to recognise, respond to, and report concerns promptly, helping to maintain a safe, supportive, and protective environment for every child.

Policy and Reporting

We comply with all legal obligations to report concerns to relevant authorities where a child’s safety or well-being may be at risk. Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy is available on request.
