OUR ROOMS

Learning Environments for Every Stage of Your Child's Development

At Montessori Steps, our learning environments are designed to support each stage of development from infancy through to school age. Every room is calm, purposeful, and carefully prepared to meet children where they are in their learning journey.

As a small-capacity centre by design, we keep our spaces unhurried, allowing educators to provide genuine attention, stronger relationships, and meaningful learning experiences for every child.

Nursery (6 weeks – 18 months)

Our Nursery provides a calm and nurturing start to early learning for our youngest children. Educators focus on building secure attachments through warm, responsive care and consistent routines. We work closely with families to support individual sleep, feeding, and comfort needs. Breastfeeding families are welcome to feed onsite or provide expressed milk, ensuring a smooth and supported transition into care.

Toddler (18 months – 2 years)

Our Toddler room is a safe, engaging space where children begin to explore independence and movement. Through hands-on Montessori materials and everyday practical life activities, children develop early coordination, language, and self-help skills.

Consistent routines and supportive educators help toddlers feel secure as they build confidence in exploring the world around them.

Pre-Kinder (2 – 3 years)

In Pre-Kinder, children strengthen their independence, social skills, and confidence through child-led learning experiences. Montessori activities encourage concentration, problem-solving, communication, and practical life skills while fostering a love of discovery.

Our educators guide children to make choices, follow routines, and participate in purposeful learning that prepares them for the next stage of their early education.

Kinder (3 – 5 + years)

Our Kinder program combines Montessori education with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) to support children from three to five years and beyond as they prepare for school.

Led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers and educators, children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, creativity, and social development through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The program encourages independence, resilience, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning while supporting each child’s individual readiness for school.

Eligible families may access the Free Kinder program and Early Start Kindergarten, providing valuable support during this important stage of learning.
