OUR PROGRAMS

Early Learning Programs Designed for Every Stage of Development

At Montessori Steps, our programs combine the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) with authentic Montessori pedagogy. Each experience is designed to support children from infancy through to school age, guided by their interests, strengths, and natural curiosity.

Learning is child-led, hands-on, and intentionally prepared to encourage independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning..

Our Child Safety Commitment

Our kindergarten program, led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers, supports school readiness, emotional development, and strong foundational skills for lifelong learning. Eligible families can access Victorian Government Free Kinder and Early Start Kindergarten programs.

Music Program

Music is an important part of early development and everyday joy at Montessori Steps. Through the Hey Dee Ho program, children engage in singing, movement, and rhythm-based activities that build connection and confidence.

Children sing, dance, and explore instruments while developing early musical awareness, language, and coordination. The program also introduces multicultural songs, Auslan, and elements of structured music learning to support memory, creativity, and expression.

Language Program - Hindi, Urdu, Mandarin, Tagalog (Filipino)

Our language program introduces children to new languages through stories, songs, rhymes, and playful interaction. Learning is natural and repetitive, helping children build familiarity, confidence, and curiosity. This program supports early communication skills while fostering respect for cultural diversity. Children develop listening and speaking skills while gaining exposure to different sounds, traditions, and ways of expression.

Kitchen Adventures - Cooking Program

In Kitchen Adventures, children explore simple cooking experiences that build independence and real-life skills. Through hands-on activities, they learn to mix, measure, pour, and prepare food in a safe and guided environment.

The program encourages teamwork, confidence, and curiosity while supporting early numeracy, sequencing, and fine motor development. Children also develop an understanding of healthy eating and where food comes from.

Sports Fundamental Movement Program

Our Sports Program helps children develop confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love of physical activity through fun, age-appropriate sports experiences. Led by experienced instructors, children participate in games and activities that build fundamental movement skills such as running, throwing, catching, balancing, and teamwork. The program encourages active participation, resilience, and cooperation while supporting children’s physical development, confidence, and social skills in a positive and inclusive environment.

Little Yogis - Children's Yoga Program

Our yoga program introduces children to simple yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness activities that promote calmness, focus, and emotional well-being. Through engaging sessions, children develop body awareness, balance, flexibility, and self-regulation in a fun and supportive environment.

These experiences help children build confidence, manage emotions, and develop relaxation techniques that support their learning, resilience, and overall well-being.

Incursions and Excursions

Throughout the year, children participate in a variety of engaging incursions and excursions that extend learning beyond the classroom. Special visitors, educational performances, cultural experiences, and community excursions provide meaningful opportunities to explore new ideas and make real-world connections.

These experiences enrich the curriculum, spark curiosity, and help children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them while building confidence, independence, and a sense of community.

Creative Workshops

From time to time, we offer special workshops that give children the opportunity to explore new creative skills, materials, and ideas. Workshops may include experiences such as watercolour painting, sculpting, craft, and other hands-on activities.

Designed to complement our everyday learning, these experiences encourage creativity, self-expression, concentration, and curiosity while allowing children to discover new interests in a fun and supportive environment.
